Ronald Johnson, 40, of Atlantic City, was arrested on Friday, Apr. 12 after officers saw Johnson on the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Thursday, Apr. 18. An arrest warrant was issued for him when he was named the suspect in a robbery on Thursday, Apr. 11.
Johnson was accused of pistol-whipping "a female acquaintance" and kicking her several times when she was on the ground. Investigators said he demanded money from her and threatened to kill her before leaving with her cellphone.
The woman was brought to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division. She was expected to survive her injuries.
When Johnson was arrested, he was found with a loaded and 15 bags of heroin. He also had an active arrest warrant in York, Pennsylvania.
During Johnson’s arrest, he was found in possession of a loaded handgun and 15 bags of heroin. Johnson was also found to be a fugitive with a wanted warrant from York, PA.
Johnson was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, certain person not to possess a weapon, and fugitive from justice.
